S7 is a specific ingredient
S7 is a proprietary plant-based ingredient sold by FutureCeuticals for use in supplements. It is not a general name for every nitric-oxide or pump formula. When comparing products, look for S7 itself on the ingredient panel rather than a phrase such as “S7-style support.”
FutureCeuticals describes S7 as a seven-plant, non-nitrate, stimulant-free blend and promotes research on circulating nitric oxide. Those descriptions apply to the ingredient, not automatically to a pre-workout containing caffeine and several other compounds.
What the human study found
A 2021 randomized, double-blind study assigned 42 overweight or slightly obese adults to placebo, 25 mg S7 or 50 mg S7 daily for 90 days. It measured blood markers of nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species. The researchers reported changes favoring S7 in those markers.
That result is preliminary evidence about the measurements studied. It does not show that an S7 pre-workout adds repetitions, builds more muscle, speeds recovery, or produces a particular visible pump during a workout. The participant group and daily study schedule also differ from a trained lifter taking an occasional scoop.
The study amounts are useful for interpreting research, not a personalized dosing recommendation. A formula containing one researched ingredient is not the same intervention as that ingredient taken alone.
Questions worth asking about a label
- Does it actually list S7, and is the amount disclosed?
- Is a percentage claim describing a blood marker, exercise performance or something else?
- Was the study conducted on this finished product?
- Does the rest of the formula fit your caffeine preferences, medications and existing supplements?
- Is the extra cost justified by evidence relevant to your own training goal?
Read percentage claims carefully. A relative change in a laboratory marker cannot be translated into the same percentage improvement in strength, circulation or endurance. Phrases about “unlocking” nitric oxide can sound more decisive than the outcomes actually measured.
S7 versus other pump ingredients
Citrulline, nitrate-containing ingredients and S7 are different substances. They should not be treated as interchangeable just because products containing them share pump-oriented branding. Likewise, combining several mechanisms does not itself demonstrate an additional benefit or establish the safety of the mixture.

Bottom line
S7 has human biomarker research worth reading, but a stronger claim about workout results needs direct supporting evidence. A useful buying decision starts with the outcome you want and the full product label. Have a pharmacist or clinician review unfamiliar blends if you take medication or have a medical condition.
