How to read a “best preworkout 2023” list
A year in a headline is not evidence that a product was independently tested, ranked consistently or widely preferred that year. This page does not have a verified 2023 testing dataset or ranking methodology, so it cannot establish a 2023 winner or claim that Bucked Up repeatedly topped independent lists.
If you are revisiting an older review, look for the original publication date, disclosed testing method, exact flavor and formula, label evidence and affiliate disclosure. An updated product page or a current tub does not prove what was sold in 2023.
Keep historical and current evidence separate
- Match the review’s serving size and ingredient panel to the version being discussed.
- Separate an archived label from current stock, prices and promotions.
- Check whether “best” describes actual testing, a stated comparison method or a marketing preference.
- Do not infer consumer trends, sales popularity or clinical effectiveness from a product’s appearance on a list.
What ingredient evidence can establish
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements review discusses ingredients individually and explains the limits of applying that research to combinations. An ingredient name or dose does not by itself prove that a complete pre-workout improves performance.
There is no universal “6 g pump gold standard” established here. Citrulline malate is a mixture rather than pure L-citrulline, and research results depend on the formulation and outcome studied. Beta-alanine research concerns repeated supplementation, not a guarantee of longer sets from one serving. “Nootropic,” “clean energy” and “no crash” are not substitutes for product-specific evidence.
Current label examples, not a reconstructed 2023 ranking
The following Bucked Up examples use exact panels inspected on October 13, 2026. They illustrate how to read disclosures today; they are not proof of the products’ 2023 formulas, availability, popularity or performance.

The inspected Original Franken Juice panel lists 200 mg caffeine, 6 g citrulline malate (2:1), 2 g beta-alanine and 200 mg GPCgold material labeled Alpha GPC 50% per 10.6 g scoop. The ingredient material is not 200 mg pure alpha-GPC, and these figures do not establish universal beginner suitability or guaranteed focus.

The inspected BAMF Franken Juice panel lists 333 mg caffeine, 6 g citrulline malate (2:1), 3.2 g beta-alanine and 125 mg Cognizin citicoline per 12 g scoop. Higher caffeine is not evidence that the product is a better choice or produces better training results.

The inspected PUMP-OCALYPSE Blueberry Pomegranate panel lists 3.5 g HydroPrime powder standardized to at least 65% glycerol, 3 g L-citrulline, 1 g PeakO2 blend, 1 g arginine HCl, 500 mg agmatine sulfate and 500 mg betaine anhydrous per 12.4 g serving. No caffeine is listed on that panel. This does not establish guaranteed pumps, universal sleep suitability or a safe combination with another supplement.
Use labels and warnings, not intensity rankings
Consider caffeine from all sources, other stimulant ingredients, sleep timing, medication interactions and medical conditions. The FDA’s 400 mg daily caffeine reference for most adults is not a recommended single dose or a safety guarantee. Follow the exact product’s warnings; this guide does not recommend stacking powders or using prior stimulant tolerance as proof of suitability.
Check current discount terms
The banner below is historical promotional artwork. It does not establish a current automatic or sitewide discount, or what any offer was in 2023. If using code SHAWTAYYYY7, confirm item eligibility and the final checkout total; samples, bundles and other offers may have different terms.
Bottom line
Treat a 2023 list as dated material to evaluate, not a current buying verdict. Without archived product evidence and a transparent testing method, a “best” claim remains unverified. The current label examples above are useful comparisons, but they do not fill that historical evidence gap.
