C4 Original: Current Label, Caffeine and Formula Changes

C4 Original is a specific Cellucor pre-workout with more than one formula generation. The current US fifth-generation Watermelon product provides a useful, clearly identified label example. Its yellow tub contains 267 g and 30 servings. The older 150 mg caffeine listing is a different reference point; the familiar name does not make those formulas interchangeable.

What the current Watermelon panel discloses

The manufacturer’s fifth-generation facts graphic specifies approximately one level scoop, weighing 8.9 g. Each serving lists:

  • 200 mg caffeine anhydrous
  • 2 g CarnoSyn beta-alanine
  • 1.2 g L-citrulline and 1.2 g L-arginine
  • 1 g creatine nitrate
  • 100 mg PeptiPump bioactive lentil peptides
  • 225 mg choline, declared as choline from choline bitartrate
  • 5 mg toothed-clubmoss extract, standardized to 1% huperzine A

The panel also declares 10 calories, 1 g carbohydrate and no sugar. These values belong to the identified Watermelon graphic. Other flavors, countries and generations require their own labels, including their other ingredients and warning statements.

How to read the amounts accurately

The 4.5 g performance-section heading already includes beta-alanine, citrulline, arginine and peptides. The 205 mg energy-and-focus heading already includes the caffeine and clubmoss extract. Adding either subtotal again would double-count its ingredients. Although the panel groups ingredients, it provides individual amounts for these entries.

Ingredient form matters too. One gram of creatine nitrate does not establish one gram of creatine monohydrate or pure creatine. Five milligrams of extract standardized to 1% huperzine A mathematically corresponds to 50 micrograms of huperzine A, not five milligrams of that active constituent. The choline figure is a nutrient declaration, rather than a stated 225 mg mass of its source compound.

Why older caffeine figures still appear

Cellucor retains an older Original page advertising 150 mg caffeine, while the current listing states 200 mg. Comparing those numbers establishes a version difference, not proof that either tub contains the other’s full ingredient profile. Check the product suffix, flavor and generation before relying on an older review.

What a label review can establish

The disclosed composition supports careful comparison; it does not demonstrate superior workouts or recovery. NIH distinguishes ingredient research from evidence for finished combinations. Likewise, the FDA’s 400 mg daily caffeine reference is general guidance for most adults, not a target or permission to double this serving. Follow the actual container’s directions and warnings rather than treating an “entry-level” description as a safety assessment.
