JYM pre-workout refers to the Pre JYM family from JYM Supplement Science. Original Pre JYM, Pre JYM Plus and Pre JYM Stim-Free are separate products. Choosing among them requires more than comparing the words “original” and “advanced” on a listing.
Original Pre JYM: the Blueberry Pineapple example
The official original Pre JYM page supplies the Blueberry Pineapple package panel used here. One 24 g scoop, with about 30 servings per container, provides:
- 300 mg caffeine anhydrous
- 6 g citrulline malate
- 6 g BCAAs: 3 g leucine, 1.5 g isoleucine and 1.5 g valine
- 2 g creatine HCl and 2 g beta-alanine
- 1.5 g betaine, 1.5 g L-tyrosine and 1 g taurine
- 500 mg beetroot extract and 150 mg alpha-GPC
- 50 mcg huperzine A and 5 mg black-pepper extract
These quantities describe the identified original formula. A different flavor can have a different total scoop weight, so use the gram serving on the container in front of you.
What changes in Plus and Stim-Free?
In JYM’s current formula comparison, both original Pre JYM and Pre JYM Plus contain 300 mg caffeine. Plus changes other parts of the formula: it lists 5 g creatine monohydrate, 3.2 g beta-alanine, 3 g betaine and 600 mg nitrates. Its “Plus” designation therefore does not mean more caffeine in this comparison.
The same manufacturer comparison identifies Pre JYM Stim-Free as having no caffeine, with 2 g creatine HCl, 2 g beta-alanine and 1.5 g betaine. Caffeine-free is one useful distinction; the rest of the ingredients and warnings still deserve review.
Keep ingredient forms in the comparison
Original Pre JYM’s 2 g creatine HCl is not the same listed ingredient or amount as Plus’s 5 g creatine monohydrate. Likewise, 6 g citrulline malate includes the malate component. Preserve the full ingredient names instead of comparing every gram figure as if it represented the same substance.
These are label differences, not proof that one entire formula gives a particular person better workouts. NIH explains that ingredient research does not necessarily establish the effects of a multi-ingredient combination. This article includes no firsthand flavor, mixability or performance testing.
Read the directions before choosing a serving
The pictured original package says not to combine it with other caffeinated products and not to consume it within six hours of bedtime. Its warnings exclude people under 18, pregnancy or nursing, and certain medical or medication situations; read the complete package warning and ask a qualified clinician when relevant.
For a useful buying comparison, match the exact formula, full serving, included creatine and cost per labeled serving. Neither JYM nor another brand should be treated as a single universal pre-workout recipe.
