Optimum Nutrition Pre-Workout Advanced needs a market and label version attached to its name. An older US Gold Standard Pre Advanced tub and a UK Gold Standard Pre-Workout Advanced listing do not describe the same formula. Current Optimum Nutrition pages also feature products under newer names, including Platinum Pre-Workout.
The archived US Advanced label
The NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database record 270999 preserves an Optimum Nutrition Berry Blast label. Its 20 g serving lists 300 mg caffeine, 6 g micronized L-citrulline, 5 g creatine monohydrate, 3.2 g beta-alanine and 1.2 g creatine nitrate. The 400 g container is labeled for 20 servings.
This is a historical manufacturer label, not confirmation that the same version is currently manufactured or available. Creatine nitrate weight should not simply be added to creatine monohydrate weight and described as an equivalent amount of pure creatine.
UK Advanced and current Platinum
A UK Gold Standard Pre-Workout Advanced listing specifies a different 21 g serving: 200 mg caffeine, 6 g citrulline, 3.2 g beta-alanine and 3 g leucine. Its directions define that serving as approximately three level scoops, making scoop-count assumptions particularly unhelpful.
The current UK manufacturer Platinum page publishes those same headline quantities, plus ingredients including N-acetyl-L-carnitine, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine and L-theanine. Matching headline numbers alone does not prove that every older Advanced flavor and every Platinum tub are interchangeable. Check the complete panel and warnings.
A better comparison than “which one wins?”
- Write down the country, complete product name, flavor and serving weight.
- Compare caffeine per full serving, not per scoop or per container.
- Check whether creatine is actually listed before adding a separate product.
- Calculate price per serving only after confirming the version and serving count.
Keep the standard Gold Standard Pre-Workout separate from Advanced and Platinum too. A familiar black-and-gold tub is not enough to identify a formula.
