Which Vega Sport Energizer are you looking at?
Vega Sport Energizer is a plant-based pre-workout drink mix, but the name has appeared on different regional and historical products. Premium Energizer and Sugar-Free Energizer are not interchangeable. Start with the country, full product name and facts panel rather than assuming every Vega tub uses one formula.
The Canadian Berry label
The Canadian manufacturer listing shows a Berry tub containing 540 g, with approximately 30 servings. Its front label states 100 mg caffeine per serving. The displayed nutrition panel defines one scoop as 18 g and lists:
- 60 calories.
- 15 g carbohydrate, including 13 g sugars and 1 g fibre.
- 60 mg sodium and 80 mg potassium.
The separate non-medicinal ingredient panel includes brown rice syrup solids and coconut palm sugar. This is therefore not the sugar-free version. Its allergen advisory also matters: a plant-based positioning does not mean the packaging lacks cross-contact warnings.
Why older US descriptions can differ
A Vega US FAQ dated August 2020 describes 100 mg caffeine from coffee berry and green tea. A separate September 2020 US article describes an Energizer containing 16 g carbohydrate and distinguishes it from Sugar-Free Energizer.
Those historical US descriptions should not replace the 15 g carbohydrate figure on the Canadian Berry panel shown here. Nor do old FAQs prove a particular US package is currently for sale. The former US Premium Energizer product URL currently redirects to Vega’s athletic-performance collection rather than providing that exact product’s facts.
Plant-based caffeine still counts
The FDA explains that naturally occurring and added caffeine are handled the same way. “Natural” does not guarantee gentler stimulation, freedom from jitters or better sleep. Add up caffeine from coffee, energy drinks and other supplements instead of treating a plant-sourced serving as exempt.
Comparing it with another pre-workout
Compare carbohydrate needs, stimulant dose and dietary requirements separately. A carbohydrate-containing energizer may serve a different purpose from a sugar-free pump powder. Bucked Up’s original US pre-workout, for example, lists 200 mg caffeine and deer antler velvet extract on its manufacturer page, so it is not a like-for-like vegan substitute. Neither ingredient lists nor brand claims establish a personal performance result. Follow your actual package’s directions and warnings.
